Is it a thumbs up or a thumbs down for you when it comes to vegan cheese?

There’s no denying the ever-increasing popularity of veganism. Whether you’re already living a vegan lifestyle, or a meat-eater wanting to cut down, now more than ever there’s a range of non-animal products to meet our needs.

Therefore, it comes as no surprise that veganism was considered the biggest food trend of 2018 and is still a hot topic today – particularly in supermarkets, where the constant need to improve and include vegan options in their shops is more important than ever.

Last year the UK launched more vegan products than anywhere else, with one in six food product launches being vegan. With that in mind, we decided it was time to find out who made the best vegan cheddar style cheese.

We were looking for a non-dairy alternative to Cheddar, with a good balance of flavour, aroma and texture. We wanted a “cheese” that still had the same qualities as the real thing, but wasn’t chalky, powdery, or artificial tasting.
